Chip shortage drives CPU 'recycling' to become a must-have for enterprises

Dell's 2024 Global IT Transformation Report states that 73% of enterprises plan to extend the lifecycle of data center equipment. Intel and HP have launched the "Xeon Refresh Program" to re coat retired Xeon CPUs with nanoscale metal layers, enabling chips to support PCIe 4.0 interfaces before 2018. Japanese ITAD company Renesys stated that the price of refurbished CPUs is only one-third of that of new products, and the delivery cycle has been shortened to 2 weeks.
